Italian Saint Honore Cake

The base of this cake is a homemade puff pastry with rings of homemade vanilla and chocolate diplomatic cream.  A sponge cake flavored with a Solerno liqueur syrup is then placed on top, and frosted with a lightly sweetened whipped cream.  More vanilla and chocolate diplomatic cream is piped on top, and the cake is finished with cream puffs that are filled with vanilla pastry cream, and dipped in a light caramelized sugar.
